Before we picked up Elizabeth from the Lexington airport on the evening of September 6, Regina Stetler came over in the morning to comb my hair for me. (It was sheet washing day at our house.)
Regina tried to comb it in a similar way to her own style.
I sure appreciated her coming and doing it for me, because I wanted to look presentable for going to Rick and Mary Tallman's 50th anniversary party that afternoon.
They are such a sweet and godly couple in our church.
They got married when they were practically babies, so that's why they look so young after 50 years!

The next morning, Elizabeth was on duty to comb my hair for me.
I put a pretty flower on my sling for a decoration.
head covering was very useful to keep the orphans from playing with her hair.
Felicia Staley was at church that day. It was sweet to see her. We miss her since she lives and works
in Indianapolis now and most Sundays she is ministering in her church there.

The next day, I started working on a puzzle my youngest brother provided as a gift.
Because of orneriness, he didn't include a picture of what it was,
though I could tell right away it was a picture of his family.
It took a couple days, but we got it done.

One of the many things I couldn't do for myself--clipping toenails!
Rowen is such a good caregiver to me!

Friday evening, September 12, Elizabeth and I were invited to
Ms. Jess Smith's house for a game night.
There were seven of us, and we had a fun time.
The next day, Rowen trimmed back the Jane Magnolia tree by our front porch. It was too close to the wires coming to our house. He carried all the branches to the back yard, and our neighbor burned them in his firepit a few days later.
On Sunday, September 14, we had Janna Albright for our afternoon guest.
She is a student at GBSC this year. When Elizabeth lived in Bedford and taught Junior Church,
Janna was her right hand girl!

The Hoch family was vacationing in the area, visiting the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum and came to our church that day. We had never met before, but Judy is a cousin to our missionary friend Byron Manners. We were glad to make their acquaintance.
Elizabeth shared in the evening service about her time in Liberia.
The next day, Elon and Anita Morley came to deliver a puppy to Columbus, OH.
Elon dropped Anita off with us about lunch time, while he did the delivery.
Of course, we started putting together a puzzle together! Puzzles are nice to do while you visit.

I was amazed that we were able to get it done before bedtime!

They stayed the night, and I got to show Anita my quilting machine and teach her to play Punto.
We had a nice time. It was their first time to visit here, but we have stopped by their
home several times in Missouri.
September 18, I saw a surgeon to follow up on my September 3 wrist surgery in Missouri. The nurse took off my splint and then the steri-strips.
The splint was getting stinky, so I was so glad to get it off!
It cleaned up after this to look a lot better.
If you look closely, you can see the plate and eight screws in the radius bones.
The radius was in several pieces because of the bad break.
The tip of the ulna is also broken but will heal without a screw.
Dr. Shaftel examining my arm. He told us they see broken wrist all the time
because of falls playing pickleball!
He ordered occupational therapy, which I started the following week,
and asked for me to come back in two weeks.
I saw my oncologist the following day. He was glad I have tolerated the new chemo pills without side effects. He wants me to be on them for four months before I have CT and bone scans. On Saturday, we were invited to Zach and Becca Case's home for lunch.
They are a sweet couple in our church who have been to our house several times, and brought us food a few times, but it was our first time to their house, except that Rowen helped them move in.
Amelia and Everly were very excited Miss Elizabeth had come to play with them!
The candidates
on the grass by the parking lot and to the left of the patio. I did not get a crowd picture.
It was a blessed service with testimonies and a song between each baptism.
The next day, Elizabeth and I went to GBSC so Elizabeth could speak to the Missions Interest Group about her Liberia trip. As we waited in our car, we saw Jason and Karen go into the chapel for Karen to speak to the Education Interest Group. When Jason came back out, we got to talk to him for a few minutes before time for Elizabeth to set up at the Mission Sponsors' house.
A shot during Elizabeth's presentation.
I took it through a doorway, so it doesn't have
everybody in the picture who was there.
During that week, I carefully worked on finishing the quilt top I had started before our last trip.
I completed it on Saturday, only working on it 2-3 hours a day because of tiring.
I don't know when I will be up to quilting it.
(Elizabeth is the one who's holding it in this picture.)
Elizabeth had a birthday on September 26.
We celebrated quietly at home with her.
I so appreciate all she does for me!
On Saturday, Jeff and Lesa, and two other Shepherds Global Classroom (SGC)
co-workers traveled here from Houston.
We enjoyed our guests Saturday night through Wednesday morning when they left at 5 am.
Sunday pictures: Jeffrey and Lesa
Ebony, Lesa, Cheryl, and Elizabeth
On Monday, Jeffrey worked for SGC some, and helped Rowen with an outdoor project,
but still took time for one game with Lesa, Cheryl, and me.
We ladies played other games and went to a store together.
Elizabeth and Ebony worked together on SGC.
We also had a really good prayer time for SGC and for the coming SGC Vision Dinner.
We girls did a crazy thing that evening after showers; we had facial masks. Pictures look like we were holocaust victims, so I am not publishing them.
Pictures from Tuesday morning:
The SGC folks all went over to their boss's (Tim Keep, Sr.) house for a brunch
and to help prepare some things for the Vision Dinner.
Ebony presenting a gift to Becky Keep.

Us ladies after the dinner.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time with the Houston SGC team!
