She also came to Amy's wedding shower. It was soon after that shower that she went back into the hospital and never came home again. She leaves seven children, 14 grandchildren, and 13 great-grands. She was 79 years old and had been a widow since 2013. The Wednesday night after her flight to heaven, lots of the church folks gave stories and tributes to her life.
Emily had worked part of her Saturday birthday at Chick-fil-A and the workers there honored her on her birthday. (She has been the Culture Director, honoring every other employee's birthday, so it was so special that some of them made it special for her!)
She got a cake, flowers, balloon, candle, and a large poster.
That evening, Jason and Karen came over for supper to help us celebrate her birthday.
Mint Oreo Dirt Cake, her favorite
The next day, the Stetlers and Danette were with us for dinner. (We should've gotten Emily in the picture.) The chocolate cake was from Chick-fil-A workers.
On March 19, there was a blood drive at GBS that Elizabeth helped to organize. The girls both gave a pint of blood. Janet was not allowed to give blood, as the blood bank has a rule to not receive blood from breast cancer survivors. She had given many times in the intervening years in Colorado. We are hoping that that restriction will be revisited and she can give in the future.
