February 2026

Emily here, catching up for my mother (from her perspective) about the month of February.
[Janet Albertson passed away and went to be with Jesus on March 20, 2026.]

Feb. 1 - We stayed home from church and watched online, as I was in too much pain.
Feb. 3 - the Stetlers stopped by in the afternoon for a visit.
Feb. 4 - I had more energy and worked on the borders of Elizabeth's quilt for 1 hr. (I started the quilt in Dec, and have been working on it since then in little bits when I felt up to it.)

Feb. 5 - my pain from the bone cancer was increasing every day it seemed.
Worked on the quilt from my recliner.

Sis. Hill from church and her neighbor Jessica stopped by with some pumpkin bread.
Sis. Hill gave me this African Violet when we first moved to KY 9.5 years ago, and it's still doing well!

Elizabeth ordered this photo tile for a special Valentine's gift for Rowen and me. Emily took this picture at Christmas time of us.

Feb. 6 - I finished piecing the quilt top, complete with borders!

Dr. Stephen Gibson passed away January 31. Elizabeth went to his funeral in Indiana on Feb. 7th, and spoke at it. She stayed with our friend, Felicia Staley.
Feb 8 - Elizabeth (or Emily when she's home) combs my hair every morning for me since September.
They remind me often that it's their privilege since I combed their hair for them for years when they were young!

Feb. 8 - Emily flew home to be with us a little over a week. So thankful she felt led to come home during this time. We didn't know it then but it was the last visit I'd have with her.

Sunday afternoon, our sweet friends Judy Southerland and Regina Stetler visited for a little while to check on me and share some cheer.
Sweet ladies!
Feb 9 - Emily spent the day with me while Rowen and Elizabeth both had appts. We rested, played some games, and talked.
In the evening, we watched Sea Breeze Camp service together.
Feb 10 - Elizabeth and Emily matching

Elizabeth and Rowen cut the backing fabric for the quilt.

I went downstairs a few times this week with much rest in between, to monitor Emily while she did the quilting for me since I wasn't up to it.
Emily and Rowen putting the backing in the machine.
Pinning the quilt into place.
Rowen and Elizabeth went on a walk. We had been having 3 weeks of sub-freezing with quite a bit of snow, but then it finally warmed up and the snow started melting.

Feb 11 - continued progress on the quilt. Emily did all the quilting except for a couple little spots where I wrote words. God gave me strength to stand long enough for that.
So glad to be together <3
Emily didn't act too nervous about doing the quilting for me. She's had some practice previously. God helped her to do a wonderful job!

Feb 12 - watering my plants
Feb 13 - matching with my daughters!
Got the quilt out of the machine, all quilted!

I sewed the binding on with Emily's assistance.
That afternoon our friend, Mikah DeMint, visited for awhile. It was good to see her again!
We visited, then Mikah and Emily played music (Mikah brought her violin for Emily to use).

Daddy brought home flowers for me for Valentine's Day.

That evening Jason and Karen came over for a visit.
Feb 14 - celebrating 42 Valentine's Days together with my sweetheart, Rowen.
The beautiful roses that Rowen got for me.

The Stetlers came over for a sweet afternoon visit on the 14th.
The completely finished quilt on the bed.
The quilt on the floor.
Feb. 15 - The girls went to church, but Rowen and I watched church online.
Emily did pretty braids on my hair.
That evening Eli and Ellie Albring brought the whole youth group to our home for a service!
It was such a sweet and precious time as the youth sang songs, shared testimonies, and prayed.
The "service" ended with me praying for the youth.
Feb. 16 - Emily had to go back to Oklahoma, so Rowen took her to the airport.

I worked on my editing jobs.
Feb. 18 - Frank and Sherry Martinoli brought us beautiful flowers and visited one day.

Feb. 20-21 - My sister Brenda and her daughter Leah came for a visit.
We played lots of games and visited a lot.
Sisters
Feb. 25 - Rowen and Elizabeth pushed me on a walk around the block.
Feb. 28 - my sister Sherry came for a day-visit. We had a sweet time together.

Feb. 28 Gary and Denise Mitchell stopped by for a visit.
