Thanksgiving 2023

Emily flew home from Tulsa, OK on November 18 and stayed until November 25.  Jason and Karen were over for a visit when she arrived from the airport around 9 pm.

It was so good to have her home and she was so thrilled to get to go to
Burlington Bible Church on Sunday.
We had a couple of Emily's friends over for Sunday dinner.
It was such a beautiful day that they took me on a walk after dinner.

Regina and Sherilyn were so happy to see Emily in Kentucky again!
One of the walks we went one in the neighborhood while she was home with us!  She made our yearly pumpkin bread gifts for the neighbors and helped us deliver them.
Besides Emily, Tim and Brenda's family, Randy and Joy's family, Elizabeth, and Jason and Karen were able to be with us Thanksgiving week.  Jeffrey and Lesa couldn't come back when they had just spent about 17 days with us in October.
Below are random pictures of some of the activities of the week.
Because of my blood clots, I was checking my O2 levels and Felix and Piper were very interested in having their oxygen levels checked every few minutes!
Don't Wake Up Daddy is always a favorite game for the littles.

Play Nine was one of the favorite games played repeatedly throughout the week.
We use Skip-Bo cards for playing Play Nine.

Reading with Piper.  Rowen, Tim and Brenda were cooking up something yummy in the kitchen.
We had a sturdy tube we saved to play with.
It was fun to whisper into and feel the words tickle the other person.
Jason was really fun with the tube.
Piper loved the puzzles.

Emily enjoyed braiding her nieces' hair all week!

Mandylyn's ice cream shop toys were a favorite with the littles.
Jewelyn wanted to look at photo albums with Grandma.

One of Mishael and Mandylyn's favorite things is doing jigsaw puzzles on Grandma's phone.

More Play Nine
Randy was reading to Josiah, but Josiah went to sleep...
Thankfully, Jewelyn came along to listen to the story.
We played the Ungame and had Jeffrey and Lesa join us on the phone for it.
Mandylyn's Ice Cream counter had a lot of customers and imaginative play.
Micah, Jonathan, and James enjoyed playing pingpong.
Grandpa showing Micah and Mishael something interesting.
Joy took her turns in the kitchen.
Thursday evening, we put together a puzzle.  We did not have a picture to go by, but it was a Scoles family picture, so we knew what the people should look like.
This puzzle was made from my parents' 50th anniversary with my siblings and spouses.
We did get it together and printed out the picture for next time.
Josiah studying a book while his daddy studied for a class he was going to teach the next week.
Mandylyn shared her ice cream counter so sweetly, but she also got to play with it.

Janet and the oldest son, Randy on Sunday evening.
After church snack Sunday evening; only Randy's family was with us on Sunday.
The rest all left on Saturday.
We enjoyed our family so much during Thanksgiving week.  They did all of the cooking and dishes.  It gave Rowen a break from all the cooking he had been doing.  The children all got along so well and the adult conversations were a blessing.  The games were all fun.  We know they sacrificed a lot to come and we appreciate them so much.
