It's no wonder I haven't had time to blog about September! It was a busy month.
We started out on September 1 with a visit from the Kaus family from Colorado who relocated to Tennessee in September 2015--one year before we moved to Kentucky. They were featured in our Colorado blog quite frequently. We had been wanting to get together ever since we got settled and finally got to do it. Their oldest, Quentin, was not able to come, but they've added a couple little ones we had never seen!
We gave them a tour at God's Bible School.

We had a good day at the Creation Museum.

The next weekend, Rowen and Janet had an early 35th anniversary time away on Friday and Saturday, driving to Paducah, Kentucky. First we went to The National Quilt Museum.
I picked this one as my favorite. It was in the section with Kansas City Star quilt patterned quilts from early 1900s. They were well used and well loved.

This is a quilt of a church near Estes Park that we have gone by frequently.
We checked out a museum we wanted to go to. It was too late in the day to see everything, so we waited until Saturday to go.
We stayed in an Airbnb house in the country about 20 minutes away from Paducah. It was quiet and homey.

Saturday morning it was raining cats and dogs and horses, and Rowen got this picture of some of the horses across the lane from our house.
After the rain stopped, we went to the Market Museum. This was a neat statue we were intrigued by.
Lewis and Clark are featured in this very interesting museum. Clark started Paducah...
There are so many fascinating stories and artifacts in this museum. We highly recommend it if you are in the area.
On our way home, we went a different way to cross over the Kentucky Lake. There are two large finger lakes and Land Between the Lakes, two amazing bridges, lots of recreational water activities.
We parked and walked half way across the first bridge. It was really long. The weather was perfect at first, but a rain storm came up suddenly and caught us before we got back to the van. We got soaked!
When we got home, our territory also had had a lot of rain!
The next day, we enjoyed having some GBSC students for Sunday dinner. Jonathan Sanjuan, Luke Hughes, Rebecca Pohl, Rachel Pohl, and Melanie Hilling.
Rowen gave back to Retha her hanging lamp that he transformed into a table lamp. It has a lot of sentimental value to her, so she is glad to have it in a more usable form now.
On September 10, Rowen took this picture of Golden Rod, which is prolific around here during September. We thought about his parents, Herbert and Alice Albertson, who married on September 10, 1940. Golden Rod was their only wedding flower, because they were poor and it was prolific in Arkansas where they got married.
On September 16, Rowen wore a coral shirt that we bought while in Paducah. He had bought one for Jason and Karen's wedding and given it to Jeffrey after the wedding because it didn't have a pocket. Lo and behold, as we examined this new shirt that fit so perfectly--it doesn't have a pocket either...
That Sunday was Korin Harms birthday, so we had the Harms family over for dinner and the afternoon. Danette was also with us. The last couple times we'd had the Harms over, the kids had been away visiting grandparents. They are some of our favorite little people, so we were glad to have them come.

September 23, we were privileged to have Zach and Rebekah Barkman and Jimmy Garcia and Danette for Sunday dinner. We enjoyed getting acquainted through playing the Ungame.
Emily, Jimmy, and Danette took a walk in the afternoon.
September 26, Elizabeth had her 25th birthday. We celebrated on Tuesday, the 25th, by having our pastors, Darrell and Regina Stetler over for supper. We so much enjoyed the time with them. They have been super busy with all the weddings, funerals, and hospital visits this year, so we are blessed they could spend some time with us.

On Saturday, Jason and Karen came over for supper. It's always special when we can have time with them. They are super busy since school started.

During September, Janet made a quilt for Beulah Conley, who she still sits with, even though she went to the nursing home August 30 after a time in the hospital and rehab hospital. This quilt is made mostly with strips from the French Braid quilt from earlier this year. It also has fabric from Jeff and Lesa's wedding quilt. Purple is Beulah's favorite color. We bought the black with purple triangles fabric at Hancocks in Paducah. I tied this quilt instead of sending it away to be quilted, in the interest of time. Below, I am putting the binding on.

In September, we also got a couple trees removed and dead tops taken out of our trees. We're feeling safer, and poorer. But safer is really good!
